Josh Gordon scores a dramatic equalizer to earn a point at Barrow at his former club Walsall
JOSH GORDON scored a spectacular equalizer six minutes into added time to earn a point at Barrow at his former club Walsall.
The Bluebirds followed George Miller’s strikes twice, but responded each time with George Williams’ first goal for the club and the header from Gordon’s last breath.
The win owed just as much to Barrow goalkeeper Paul Farman, who made a series of first-half saves to keep the Bluebirds from a runaway Walsall start.
But it was Gordon who had the last laugh, perfectly placed at the near post to lead Patrick Brough’s cross at home and unleashed the 224 traveling supporters.
Ongoing injury issues have kept Barrow from naming a full substitute bench with Jamie Devitt, Tom Beadling and Kgosi Ntlhe still out.

Forward Dimitri Sea was also out, suffering a recurrence of his hamstring problem during a midweek return to the bench in the 1-1 draw against Scunthorpe.
In another coup, Offrande Zanzala was ruled out due to illness, but on a positive note forward Luke James and defenseman Connor Brown returned from injury layoff to each take a spot on the bench.
The Bluebirds started off slow and needed a three minute stoppage from the Flying Farman to keep Conor Wilkinson from finding the upper corner 20 yards after a marauding run.
The warning was ignored from the resulting corner kick as Farman saved Wilkinson and Manny Monthe’s heads twice, only for Miller to get the second save at close range.

Farman bailed out Barrow twice more in the first 10 minutes, repelling a shot from Miller, which cut to the left side unchallenged, and hitting a free kick from Wilkinson.
Walsall’s Kieran Phillips curled up inches from the edge of the box before Farman made another save, diving low to his left to prevent Jack Earing from finding the bottom corner with a cheeky free kick under the wall.
Shaken, Barrow collected three warnings in eight minutes for Ollie Banks’ high elbow on Emmanuel Osadebe, as well as some pretty cynical fouls from Joe Grayson and Patrick Brough.
But, with their first real chance at a game, the Bluebirds parted Walsall to equalize in the 36th minute, Williams perfectly synchronized his arrival in the box to slam Remeao Hutton’s low cross.
They nearly took the lead six minutes later as Williams’ wide free kick caught the wind and threatened to cheat Carl Rushworth, but Walsall’s keeper managed to tip him over.

Miller put the Saddlers back in front with a moment of magic just after the hour mark, sending Hayden White’s close post back with an instinctive heel.
Barrow was furious, convinced the ball had gone out of play during White’s marauding run in preparation for the goal and Josh Kay was cautioned for his protests.
The visitors pounced on Tom White and James in an attempt to save something and nearly equalized with six minutes left, but Rushworth made a nice low save to recover Banks’ 20 yards.
However, there was nothing the Guardian could do to the death as Gordon rushed home – although even then there was a belated reboot scare as Farman saved a low shot from Miller on the turn.
